Resilience Apothecary and Justice Lover’s Tarot is dedicated to access, equity, honor, integrity and universal love for all beings, embracing the principles of mutual respect and mutual aid.
I support Black Lives Matter bail fund in Alamance County, NC.
As a survivor, I also support RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network – our nation’s largest anti-sexual violence advocacy organization.

This is the Alamance County Bail Fund – my contributions help to free low-income people who would otherwise be stuck in jail because of no fault of their own other than not having the money. I totally believe in ending the bail system and abolishing the need for police.
I donate to RAINN also – as a childhood and adult sexual abuse survivor, I find it imperative to advocate against sexual violence in any way I can. Sexual predators must be stopped and the culture of exploitation of victims must end, now.

May justice be done and may love prevail.
Resilience Apothecary, Art & Tarot

I began Resilience Apothecary in 2019, a concept that survivors of childhood sexual abuse and those who’ve experienced trauma and live with PTSD or C-PTSD can learn to thrive instead of survive when given the best tools for coping and self-awareness. For me, that included a daily journal practice, professional therapy (state-funded, free assistance was the only way that was possible at first, in 2016), building a sacred relationship with the forest and garden and using tarot cards as a mirror tool to explore my inner workings and processes, since I work best using prompts. Often those who’ve experienced trauma cannot understand or even name what they’re feeling. These tools truly helped me to transform the relationship with myself through self-reflection. I have developed a critical-thinking based awareness of my own privileges as a white woman and disadvantages as a person with an invisible mental illness (C-PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, depression and adult ADHD).

Resilience Apothecary is a channeling of my experience and passions in a creative and holistic manner. I decided, after years of learning, to make my personal growth and trauma work into a whole medicine cabinet of goodies. I am honored to share it with those who would benefit. I began reading tarot cards when I was 17; my best friend’s mother introduced me. Thanks Sandie! After being gifted a set when I was 24 by a special woman teacher and being encouraged to explore the practice further, the tarot became a serious and fun way to get to know myself through a medium, alongside magickal spiritual practices that connected me with my ancient ancestors in England and Ireland (The Moores). My pagan roots were tapped and I felt I’d finally found something I could identify with and believe in (instead of Southern Baptist Christianity which I never found to be comforting or soothing). There is Holy Spirit in the mountains, trees, clouds and plants; the forest, garden and planet are my church and reclamation. Everything created in this shop is created with care and love for the planet and for you. It is my intention for you to find an inner peace and serenity of your own, so no storm may rock you, no matter how fierce. If my products or readings can facilitate those things, I have accomplished what I have been called to do.

The Resilience Apothecary started because my friend Alfie said sheā€™d buy my Florida Water if I sold it at the Freehand Market in Saxapahaw. I started to make some, bottle it and that led to many other botanical magicks and tinctures. I made some divine smelling hand sanitizer and little travel sized Florida waters too! I’m also making medicine bottles of hand-made local wild flower essences, sets of them to attune to each chakra into balance, special perfume oils, art, cards, stickers and more!
Truly, this stuff feeds my soul and while I used to feel much shame around my spiritualism (I never talked about it with anyone because of past experiences of ridicule, judgement, and teasing), I do not feel shame any longer. I give myself permission to follow a path which makes me happy. This work is not work; it makes me jovial, creatively inspired and satisfied. I love the feeling of making something that tickles and embraces the senses and helping to light a path for those searching for their own.

Thank you for trusting me and giving me a chance to share what I’ve learned in a practical and magical way.

With love,

Anita

PRODUCTS HISTORY & DETAILS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

Travel with this brew. Bless your house. Clear your space, wherever you may be.

Cleanse your office, car, and threshold of your home. Releasing your space of it’s old, negative and stagnant energy to welcome positivity, spirit renewal and creativity. Sacred floral and citrus notes hold powerful cleansing and protective properties. Spray to clean your altar items, spray your hands before performing rituals… there are myriad uses for Florida Water.

History: Florida Water’s history is not just a refreshing, unisexual scent, but also a traditional, Earth-based, omni-spiritual aid in cleansing, blessing and protection. “Originally created by New York City perfumer Robert I. Murray in 1808, Florida Water was the American version of the “eau de cologne” which was a popular perfume originating in Cologne, Germany in 1709.

The name “Florida Water” refers to the fabled Fountain of Youth, which was said to be located in Florida. The name also hints at the flowery nature of the scent which emphasizes sweet orange. Florida Water was used in slaves’ magickal practices and everyday life (These were cloaked by Christian saints and symbols because African religions were not allowed to be practiced.). Florida Water continues to be used by African American descendants to this day. Hoodoo, Voodoo and Santeria became tools of spiritual resistance, bringing spiritual relief to an oppressed life. This is still the case in modern times, within the human condition. “Florida Water became a staple of slave-based magick. It has also become popular in Wiccan and other pagan magickal practices. As this cologne has been used in magickal rituals for over 200 years, its power comes from tradition.” – from witchswap.com

Each Resilience Apothecary blend is hand-crafted and bathed in either Full Moonlight (Full Moon) or set out in the darkness until the Moon becomes New again (New Moon). After charging, each bottle is blessed and prayed over, bringing to you an inspired blend of intuited oils, local North Carolina spirits and natural spring waters. Resilience Apothecary’s Florida Water begins with the notes of rose and rosemary, then light, citrus and florals, then, lastly, spices of cinnamon and clove. Sacred orange blossom and several other oils mingle to create this lucky 13 essential oil blend.

(Made with TOPO organic vodka from the TOPO distillery in Chapel Hill, NC and/or Bedlam Vodka from the Graybeard Distillery in Durham, NC, 13 essential oils, natural spring water, rose attar, Heritage Rosewater hydrosol (flower water) and non-GMO vegetable glycerine.

“All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.” – Toni Morrison

Loose Herbs for Burning Rituals (and instructions below):

Resilience Apothecary has gathered this burning blend to open the space of your heart and your air. Dried and mixed by hand, you have holy basil, rose petals, rosemary, lavender and sage. They all come together, a sweet, soft, and nurturing smudge blend to clear and bless your space and to begin ceremonial rituals. All is One. Make offerings to your higher power(s) and be grateful!

To burn certain plants with intention is to bless, clear, welcome and protect a space. “peoples the world over have been using plants to generate smoke that seems to produce beneficial effects. Smoke was often used to drive off insects and to prevent disease. Smoke also is deeply symbolic – it ascends to heaven, as if bringing any prayers and intentions up to the gods with it. From the incense of Asia and Europe to the sage and cedar of the indigenous Americans, the smoke generated by plants has a primordial history of use as part of spiritual practice.” – (quote from SpiritualScents.com)

We MUST when using the word “smudge” understand from where this comes. See this site to honor Indigenous culture and learn about the history of burning herbs as a ceremonial act. – Respecting Tradition and Learning History of Burning Herbs “Smudging” is mostly referring to North American Indigenous ritual, which need to be respected.

(Disclaimer: Resilience Apothecary is not responsible for fires and misuse of herbal burning blends. Consumer assumes responsibility for these practices.
